Issue 3 focused on reflections from a post-pandemic student body. The design needed to carry thematic depth without overpowering the writing.
Studied editorial grid structures and type systems
Analyzed magazine layouts balancing heavy themes with visual warmth
Gathered references for soft, nature-inspired imagery
Consulted with the editorial team to refine direction
Personal, not heavy
Unified layouts with consistent visual cues
Earthy palette with greens and warm tones
Photography-forward, avoiding faces to maintain narrative ambiguity
A clean, soothing, coffee-table aesthetic
Alabaster Co.’s editorial style served as a strong benchmark.
Explored three thematic expressions:
Nature-inspired refinement
Storm-driven transformation
Springlike renewal
A warm, nature-led direction was chosen, incorporating subtle textures, an orange–teal palette, and open layouts.

Built a cohesive system including:
A calm, open grid structure
Consistent spacing and margins
Nature-forward photography strategy
Hierarchical type system supporting readability
Editorial rhythm between imagery and text
Alongside the visual design, I contributed two nonfiction pieces to the issue, aligning voice and visuals with the broader theme of resilience.
The final 100-page magazine includes:
Fully designed cover and interior spreads
A unified visual system balancing warmth and clarity
Photography that supports, not overshadows, the writing
Consistent, intentional rhythm throughout
Praised for its clarity and emotional resonance, the issue delivers a cohesive reflection on resilience through both design and storytelling.
